April 2010
Dear Parents,
Springtime is officially here! April will bring rain, mud, Easter, the Art Show, new leaves, pretty flowers and of course, much learning and fun!
Easter vacation is Friday, April 2nd through Monday, April 5th. School will resume on Tuesday, April 6th.
Yellow days for the 2’s will be April 19th and April 20th. Remember to wear yellow. The shape of the month is an oval. The children will continue working on their “Camping/Living in the Woods” theme for the art show, bugs and birds will be introduced. The boys and girls will finish their Shape and Color Book that they have been working on all year!
The Pre-Kindergarten teachers and parents just completed their kindergarten readiness conferences. We are so proud of our Pre-K students and can’t believe that Kindergarten is just around the corner for them. If you have not had a conference, please see your teacher to schedule one.
April and May will be exciting months for the Pre-K students and teachers. They will walk to the Delmont Library either this month or next month. When a date has been confirmed we will get you the necessary information. Also, we will be taking a “Big Yellow School Bus” ride to visit Metzgar Elementary School. Information will follow when that date has been confirmed as well.
Our annual Open House and Art Show will be held on Monday evening, April 26th, from 6:30PM to 8:00PM. All the students have been working very hard and are very excited to share their creative art work with you. Please plan on attending with your whole family. Refreshments will be provided by the Deacons of the church.
As well as the children, the teachers have been working very hard for the art show and are equally excited and proud. Hanging the students’ art work and preparing the classrooms for the art show takes many hours and because we want to keep it all a surprise for you there will be no school for students on Monday, April 26th. However, please remember to attend the Art Show that evening, 6:30-8PM. Thanks for your support!
If your child has a summer birthday, you may want to celebrate an “Unbirthday” in April or May. Please arrange a date with your teacher.
We are very busy, but never too busy for any parent that would like to come in to share a talent, hobby, or story with us. Your child will love it, please don’t hesitate to ask!

“COME GROW WITH US”
The Delmont Nursery School has been growing and learning with children for over 30 years. The curriculum encompasses open education concepts with learning activities designed to meet the developmental needs of two, three and four year olds. The recognition of each child’s uniqueness is our first consideration. We believe that preschool education exerts a profound influence on the development of each child.
ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
Our program incorporates large and small motor development, reading and math readiness and a variety of activities in art, music, and physical education, as well as personal safety and a daily nutritious snack.
All classes have special visitors, such as local firefighters, police officers, paramedics, dentists, librarians, storytellers, naturalists and many parents who want to share a career or talent. All classes have holiday parties and special events.
Occasional fieldtrips are added to our learning experiences. Pre-kindergarten children visit Schramm’s Farm, Fatur’s Foodland, Metzgar Elementary School to visit Kindergarten class, Delmont Public Library and other places when the opportunity becomes available.
It is our goal to help your child grow in all ways: physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. This education can be best accomplished through a mutual partnership between home and school.
